I'm currently in South Africa, I have attended the Professional Speakers Association of Southern Africa annual convention. It's like my annual industry conference but the SA version. I do my best to attend a few of these each year in other countries. I want my learning, perspective, experiences, skills to expand!

While I like to get my hands dirty when learning something - I'm pragmatic and kinaesthetic - so the more I'm doing the faster I learn. It's also why I listen to a book while also reading along in a paper version (luck authors get paid twice!).

At the conventions, for years I wrote pages and pages of notes but not anymore. I simply immerse myself in the content and then capture 3 types of short notes:

1. What should I research more later
2. What reference/book I should read
3. What action for my business or clients should I implement immediately

This keeps me as practical as possible as an audience member.
